An Advent Prayer

Heavenly Father, 
As darkness surrounds us
And light seems far off
Keep us ever mindful of your presence.
By the power of your Spirit,
Comfort your people,
Illumine our eyes, 
And keep us ever watchful for the coming King. 
The one who was and is and is to come,
Bringing joy, peace, love, and hope. 
The Light of the World. 
A light no darkness can overcome. 
Come, Lord Jesus.
