What is time? Time is something we as people use to order our days. We use things like clocks and calendars to keep track of events. To both look back and also look forward. It is the same with the church calendar. We use the church calendar to remember, celebrate, and also to look forward to events in the life of Jesus and His Church.
When God gives the commandment to remember the sabbath day, He one, reminds us of the need for rest, and two helps us to order our days. The church calendar has grown and developed over many years. It is not completely the same from denomination to denomination, however, establishing seasons is a very useful tool in helping us as God’s people experience who God is and who He has created us to be.
Just as God has shown us in nature, there are times when the flowers will wilt, where rain and snow will replenish the earth, and where new flowers spring forth. So for the Christian, there are times to mourn and weep, to anticipate new life, and to rejoice.
Our prayer is that this church calendar tool will be a blessing to you as you navigate the seasons of life and walk alongside others through them.
