On Average
The 99% Invisible podcast just recently put out a podcast episode titled "On Average". The podcast focuses a lot on the military and where we get our data that makes up averages. Towards the end of the podcast, that I would definitely recommend you listen to, they speak about a shift that takes place in the design of military jets. Several pilots were dying due to the size of the cockpit being based on averages. Shortly after the problem was realized, a change was made making many of the aspects of the cockpit adjustable. This change led to more efficient pilots who were more equipped to accomplish their jobs and use their skills.
While this podcast has nothing to do with church, I couldn't help but make the connection. How often do we approach communities, churches and church workers like this? We may need to consider that successful models aren't successful everywhere because people, communities and churches are all unique.
