A Prayer At The Start Of A New Year
The morning dawns, and with it a new day.
As we begin a new year, some are filled with excitement, hope, or even fear.
While the changing of the calendar brings an earthly hope, it does not bring an eternal one.
May You remind us of the eternal hope that we have in our baptism.
Each day, Lord, you wake us from our bed, redeemed, and justified.
The old is gone, the new has come.
The hope we once placed in our works, is now in the work of Christ.
As we rise this morning, we rise with that hope.
Light breaks through the darkness, foreshadowing the final resurrection
Where we will awaken to a world with no more death,
No more hurt, and no more disease.
Today, teach us to serve You well as we serve those
You have called us to in our vocations,
Until, on that final day, we stand before you,
the One True Light.
Come, Lord Jesus.
