DailyLectio: Matthew's Gospel
Today wraps up our series of praying through Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5-7. Tomorrow begins a new series as we continue to pray through Matthew’s Gospel starting with Matthew 8:1-4.
How do I Use Daily Lectio?
Some people have asked me the best way to use Daily Lectio. Really, there is no right or wrong way! When it comes to prayer, we are often so afraid that we are doing it wrong that we end up putting undue pressure on our selves. When we do that we end up self sabotaging our life with God. The goal is not to get through Daily Lectio or any other prayer resource. The hope is that Daily Lectio aids you in your growing intimacy with Jesus. So, feel free to use Daily Lectio however you would like.
Here is how I know some people engage Daily Lectio.
Some people sit quietly and light a candle. Others listen while they are on a walk or on their drive to the office. Some people listen to it at night as they drift off to sleep. Some people write their thoughts and prayers back to God in a journal. Some people speak them out loud, and others just let their minds wander. Some people listen 7 days a week and others listen when they can.
So, if you started off strong with Daily Lectio and have fallen off, that is OK. I invite you to reengage at your own pace and in your own way. You can listen to each day’s episode, or visit past episodes, right here or by searching Daily Lectio in any podcast app.
